About Yerrabi District Cricket Club

Yerrabi District Cricket Club (YDCC) is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led community cricket club based in the heart of Canberra’s Gungahlin region. Established in late 2021, YDCC was founded with a clear mission: to promote cricket among children and youth under the age of 18, and to foster their holistic physical, mental, and social development through sport.

The club was proudly initiated under the leadership of the Indian Australian Multicultural Sports Association (IAMSA) — a community organisation committed to inclusive sports participation and youth development.

Despite being a young club, YDCC has experienced remarkable growth in a short span of time. Today, we:

  • Support 15+ junior teams participating in Cricket ACT competitions.
  • Deliver beginner-friendly programs like the Woolworths Master Blaster, with 50+ children including strong participation from girls.
  • Fielded a dedicated girls' team in our debut season, a rare achievement among new clubs.
  • Attracted players, volunteers, and supporters from a broad multi-ethnic and multicultural community.

What We Stand For

Junior Development

Fun, structured and competitive learning environment for young players.

Inclusion & Access

Active support for families from diverse cultural and financial backgrounds.

Volunteer-led

Entirely run by passionate community volunteers who make it all possible.

Education & Well-being

Training in first aid, mental fitness, coaching techniques, and cultural awareness.

Affordability and Inclusion

At YDCC, we believe that cricket should be accessible to every child — regardless of their financial situation. To ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation, we offer flexible financial support options for families, particularly those from socio-economically challenged backgrounds or impacted by rising living costs. As a community-first and values-driven club, we are proud to provide inclusive pathways that empower every child to play, grow, and thrive through the sport they love.

Looking Ahead

With each season, YDCC continues to build strong pathways from grassroots to higher levels of the game. In addition to strengthening our junior programs, we are also actively preparing to expand into senior cricket — offering continued opportunities for our youth to grow into competitive senior players and for broader community engagement across all age groups.

Through improved infrastructure, professional coaching, digital learning resources, and expanded community programs, we aim to become one of Canberra’s most inclusive and future-focused cricket clubs.

Safeguarding Children

YDCC has adopted Cricket Australia's Policy and Resources for Safeguarding Children and Young People. Key documents are available below for our Club Members to use.

More information and resources are available on the Australia Cricket's PlayCricket Website.

Concussion & Head Impact

Player safety is our top priority. YDCC follows Cricket Australia's Concussion and Head Impact Guidelines to ensure best practice in the prevention and management of head impacts. A concussion is a brain injury and must be taken seriously. Key steps in early management are: Recognise, Remove, Record, and Refer to a medical professional.
